Most of the roofing we install across DFW is CertainTeed and GAF, the manufacturers behind the majority of quality asphalt roofs in North Texas, whose systems we work with daily and whose 30-to-40-year limited material warranties back our own written 5-year workmanship warranty. This page covers the other end of our catalog: the premium specialty systems we install for owners buying a forty-year roof instead of a fifteen-year one.

Why brands matter more at the premium tier

At the asphalt tier, installation quality matters more than the logo on the wrapper. Quality shingles from major manufacturers perform comparably when installed right. At the premium tier the logic inverts: stone-coated steel, composite slate, and engineered shake are proprietary systems, each with its own engineering, its own installation specification, and its own warranty terms. The brand IS the product, matching profile and blend for a repair a decade later depends on knowing exactly what’s on the roof, and the difference between a premium system that serves fifty years and one that disappoints is usually whether the installer followed that brand’s specification to the letter. That’s why these pages exist: one per system we install, with the honest case for and against each.

The three premium systems we install most

DECRA is the original stone-coated steel: tile, shake, and shingle profiles pressed from steel and surfaced with bonded stone granules. Class 4 impact-rated, a fraction of real tile’s weight, and the standing answer for owners who want the tile look with metal’s hail behavior. DaVinci Roofscapes is composite slate and shake molded from virgin polymer resins, Class 4 rated, the premium name in the synthetic-slate category and the roof we quote when Tudor and French-provincial architecture asks for slate on framing that can’t carry stone. Enviroshake is engineered composite shake built to weather like aged cedar, for owners and HOAs who want the cedar aesthetic without cedar’s maintenance covenant or its insurance conversation.

What we mean (and don’t) when we say “brands we install”

Plain talk: these are systems our crews install to manufacturer specification, register for warranty at closeout, and stand behind with our own written workmanship warranty. We’re an independent contractor. We don’t claim dealer titles, and we’ll never pretend a certification we don’t hold; what we hold is installed experience across these systems in DFW conditions, and quotes that name every component so you can verify everything yourself. When a different system fits your roof better than the premium tier (and for most DFW homes, quality Class 4 asphalt is the honest answer), we say that too.

Nothing about the process is exotic; it’s the same discipline as every job we run, applied to a roof measured in decades.

A note on the brands we don’t list here

The premium market is wider than three names: stone-coated competitors, other composite lines, boutique metal systems. When owners bring us alternatives, we evaluate them on the same axes these pages use: impact rating documentation, UV chemistry and field history in southern exposures, repairability and profile availability years out, and warranty terms as written rather than as advertised. Some pass. The three systems on this page are the ones whose field history we trust enough to put our own workmanship warranty behind without reservation. That’s the standard for making this list, and it’s why the list is short.

Premium systems and resale, briefly

One under-discussed line in the premium math: these roofs transfer. A DECRA, DaVinci, or Enviroshake roof with registered warranties and our transferable workmanship coverage is a listing-sheet asset. Buyers in DFW’s premium neighborhoods know the hail economy they’re entering, and a Class 4 roof with decades of warranted life left answers the inspection’s biggest question before it’s asked. Appraisers and buyers don’t always price it fully; buyers’ insurance agents, quoting the premium discount, increasingly do. It’s not the reason to buy a premium system (the reason is the roof), but at sale time it’s a real number in your favor, and the closeout paperwork we deliver is what makes it claimable.
